The “Diplokoudouna” or Peloponnesian bells are a flat type of single-chamber bell, known for their distinct, soft-toned sound, ideal for goats, rams, and sheep. This particular type is mainly found in the highlands of the Peloponnese and the Dodecanese islands. They have a medium weight and pair harmoniously with hand-forged bells and “kypria” (traditional animal bells). They can be “tuned” even without the use of other types of bells, producing together a unique, melodic sound of low intensity.
